June 2005 (planned) a group of Beslan children will come to Montréal

June 6, 2005 to June 16, 2005 Hope for Beslan exhibition opens in Montréal. More information will be posted on our web site soon.

May 4 - 23, 2005 Group of eight children (aged 7 to 16) and 2 chaperons from Beslan visited Canada on May 4 - 23, 2005. All children from the group had lost a parent and/or family member in Beslan tragedy. The majority was hostages themselves. Many were injured and went through lengthy medical treatments in hospitals in Moscow and Vladikavkaz.

The trip was organized by Russian Canadian Association of Alberta (the major contributor and coordinator), Montreal humanitarian organization Russky Dom, Canadian volunteer group Hope for Beslan, Russian Children and Family Club of Toronto and Canadian Ossetian Association Alania. Our guests: Amina Alikova (10), Madina Alikova (7), Alena Daurova (13), Kristina Shahurina (16), Atzamaz Bodoev (15), Batraz Berezov (15), Edik Bollotaev (15), Volodya Dryukov (12) and their chaperones Vadim Gabeev and Viktoria Kazarova.

The program of the visit included beautiful trips in Alberta, discovery of Banff National Park, sightseeing in Montreal and Toronto, breathtaking views of Niagara Falls, roller coasters in Marineland and Canada Wonderland theme parks, and most important - meeting new friends.

We would like to thank everyone involved in organizing this trip. Special thanks to Marina Bazos (Edmonton), Lidia Porotnikova and Galina Sivileva (Montreal), Ruslan Koutchiev, Serguey Totrov, Rita Sambegova and Kolesnikov family (Toronto).

Fifty three hours without water and food ended by bomb explosions and a firefight leaving more than 300 civilians dead. This tragic event has been tracked in many countries shocking by its cruelty. Many humanitarian organizations and individuals were starting to help families in Beslan to cope with their tragedy.
